5 + 1 Reasons to visit Skiathos

5 + 1 Reasons to visit Skiathos

1. Skiathos is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece

Skiathos has a hypnotic beauty of its own, as all the islands that are part of the Sporades cluster. Just a look on its pristine green hills or on the golden coasts being washed by the crystal blue waters of the Aegean Sea is enough to captivate your soul once and for all. However, it’s something in the atmosphere, that makes it so wonderful, which cannot be articulated with words. Perhaps for each and every one of us this is different; just close your eyes, be and it’s going to come to you.

2. Easily accessible

Skiathos is undoubtedly one of Greece’s most easy to reach islands. In the summer, the aviation and ferry network is exceptionally well connected within Greece, with UK airports and direct flights from more than 20 European countries, making it ideal for a fly holiday or more
adventurous travel through the Greek islands and mainland regions such as Pelion, Euboea, Thessa-loniki, Skopelos and Alonissos.

3. Various kinds of tourism

Whether you are on family vacation, a free spirit, an explorer, a loner or a party animal…somehow Skiathos is the ideal place for you. Whilst not being a particularly large island it doesn’t lack natural beauty or biodiversity and certainly not cultural or activity centres. So, pack up, and prepare to deal with one of the most intriguing destinations marked on your map!

4. Biotope

The biotope of Strofilia lagoon, located behind the popular beach of Koukounaries, preserved under EU en-vironmental initiatives, is enough to pique someone’s interest and make them want to visit Skiathos. The lagoon of Strofilia presents a spectacular scenery in the southwestern part of the island, as the large pond communicates with the sea through a natural canal lined by pine trees. But what makes this place so special is that it is home to hundreds of birds, rabbits, white and occasionally black swans.

5. The local Population has been vaccinated

On the basis of the National Vaccination Plan held on the island in early May, all Skiathos permanent residents were effectively vaccinated against the pandemic. Skiathos therefore is officially one of Greece’s safest holiday destinations for this summer.
